US senior staffers engage with Belfast community workers

Published on:  11 Apr 2018

Senior staff members from Washington D.C. today met with community workers at Duncairn Community Partnership in Belfast as part of a study visit to Ireland and Northern Ireland. The 10 District Directors each oversee operations for a Member of the House of Representatives in his or her elected constituency and bridge the gap between the national policy and the interests of the public.

Organised by the U.S. Association of Former Members of Congress (FMC), the week-long study visit follows a recent US study visit organised by the International Fund for Ireland’s AMBIT programme. A cross-community group representing a number of Fund-supported projects – including previous AMBIT participants – Leanne Marshall and Ciarán Shannon introduced the U.S. delegation to peace building efforts in the city.

The 2018 District Director Study Tour is pictured above with Community workers from across North Belfast.
