Community Groups Reach Half Way Point In Leadership Journey

NICVA, in conjunction with the International Fund for Ireland (IFI), is currently running the £2.1 million Community Leadership Programme for Northern Ireland and the six border counties of the Republic of Ireland.

The second year of the Programme, which was officially launched in March 2010, is now at the half way point.  Twenty-seven groups are currently in the scheme, with recruitment for the third and final year underway.

Year 2 groups have been working with their facilitator developing their leadership skills and preparing to undertake small community projects.  Also at this important mid way point, NICVA has organised roundtable events to bring clusters of groups together in order to network.

Several took place throughout September in Monaghan, Belfast and Limavady.  The groups involved were:

  • Corcrain & Redmanville Community Association - Portadown, Co Armagh
  • Crossfire Trust - Keady, Co Armagh
  • Dochas for Women - Monaghan, Co Monaghan
  • Drumavaddy Social and Development Association - Drumavaddy, Co Cavan
  • Dundalk Media Centre - Dundalk, Co Louth
  • Eivers Lane Childcare Ltd - Mohill, Co Leitrim
  • Greater Cloughreagh Community Association - Bessbrook, Co Armagh
  • Laurelvale and District Development Group - Tandragee, Co Armagh
  • West End Partnership – Enniskillen, Co Fermanagh
  • Braniel Community Association - Belfast
  • Centre for Health and Wellbeing - Belfast
  • CARR Cavehill Antrim Road Regeneration - Belfast
  • Croi Eanna - Belfast
  • The Hubb Resources Centre - Belfast
  • Lower Castlereagh Community Group - Belfast
  • Newlodge Schools Cluster - Belfast
  • Seaview Primary School PTA - Belfast
  • St Matthew’s Parents’ Forum - Belfast
  • Women’s Common Path Network - Belfast
  • Bluestack Centre Drimarone - Drimorne, Co Donegal
  • Bushmills Ulster Scots Heritage - Bushmills, Co Antrim
  • Coolessan Community Association - Limavady, Co Londonderry
  • Dunclug Youth Forum - Ballymena, Co Antrim
  • Dunfanaghy Resource Association - Dunfanaghy, Co Donegal
  • Lisanelly Regeneration Group - Omagh, Tyrone
  • Rasharkin Women’s Group - Rasharkin, Co Antrim
