Fund announces a further EUR8.8m/STG7.4m to fund a variety of projects.
The International Fund for Ireland has announced its latest funding package following its most recent Board meeting in Co. Louth. Mr. Denis Rooney, Chairman of the Fund, said: "There has never been a more important time to put all our energies into the promotion of peace building activities aimed at helping communities to reconcile past differences and create a new shared future. The current economic difficulties can leave the more marginalised people in our society further isolated, and at greater risk of involvement with dissident groups. Positive action is needed to address this. Today's funding announcement demonstrates our continued commitment to delivering innovative and sustainable interventions which will help both major traditions on the island of Ireland to learn, work, live and build a shared future together."
The Chairman also took the opportunity to thank the international donors, the European Union and the Governments of the United States of America, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, for their support.
