The International Fund for Ireland has welcomed the announcement by the Secretary of State for an additional £240,000 UK Government funding contribution to support its ongoing peace and reconciliation efforts.
IFI Chairman, Paddy Harte commented:
“We are grateful for this additional support from the British Government at a time when many communities are feeling more vulnerable than ever due to the coronavirus pandemic. The journey towards a lasting peace takes many forms and this additional commitment enables the Fund to continue to deliver important community and reconciliation work. It is a time for people North and South to come together like never before, to rebuild and demonstrate spirit and leadership, with our support.
“During this worrying period, the Fund remains the only organisation available and willing to go where others cannot to take the necessary risks for a lasting peace. For over three decades, the generous support and encouragement from all of our donors, enables us to tackle division and marginalisation and assist the British and Irish governments in their efforts to deliver a lasting peace”.
